BASIC GOOD BEHAVIOUR

Why can we not teach our children some basics of good behaviour? Or even children of our guests too? You may be wondering what prompted this.

Well, there are a number of children who are visiting some family in our building. One can expect a child of 4 or 5 years being curious and take joy rides in lift by pressing buttons for different floors but what about those who are 10 years old or more? It becomes really annoying when you call the lift to your floor but it stops at all the floors below before reaching you and you find no one in the lift with all buttons of floors higher too pressed. So either you take a free ride or let the lift reach topmost floor and call it again. One can overlook it once or twice but all the day around is something beyond. What if someone needs it in emergency?

PS : I was halfway through another post but this act of children made me write it first.

Very valid point. I guess the parents are to blame.

Okay, on a serious note, I jhave suffered it too and I know the pain.
Try pressing the 'Stop' switch to cancel out all previous 'orders', and then put in your fresh and new 'order' by pressing ur destination floor. In my building's lift this trick works.
As for the delay for the lift to arrive on called floor due to such mischief, and more if there is an emergency, i think lift design-engineers should do something for that too.

Jack,

You just can't stop them from being kids..its their time to have fun and get curious..naughty ones can be quite handful tho..

to me...I would say its parents who should teach kids..its no fun ..if there is an emergency?here in US..they monitor the elevators ..(security) and a penalty is there..for pranks as these are not toys!
I know parents who ended up paying $500 fine for these pranks!
..parents have to responsible!
(plz let me know your e-mail,I couldn't find one)

hehehe! I know its really annoying and this is not funny for you..Well kids are always kids...they are restless...vibrant.. full of energy...Its a bit hard to tame a nasty one with the same...so cant really blame the parents always..but yes,i too agree to the fact that parents should make sure their kids have some basic good behaviour...

yeah, as someone suggested, have a camera installed inside the lift from the RWA account and then fine the parents of such kids.

Neeha said...

They are kids right?
So they need to have their part of fun.
I had done it,when I am a kid.
But 4 or 5 times would be fine, through out the day..Not safe for the kids too

jack uncle, guess what, our building doodhwala does this every morning :( :(

Sakshi said...

LOL! I used to that all the time! It is painful, but it all in jest!
Calm down uncle, these kids have no evil plans! But yes, some manners should be taught!

Gayu said...

Yes...even this happens in our building also...

But whom to blame...
Parents can only teach..but there are some children, who purposely do it, inspite of being warned many times.

How are you uncle????
Hope you are keeping cool in the Delhi heat:)

THREE DAYS AGO THERE WERE 9 FRIENDS WHO HAD GIVEN THEIR VALUABLE VIEWS ON THIS POST. I THOUGHT OF REPLYING NEXT DAY BUT THEN THIS SITE WENT INTO SOME TECHNICAL PROBLEM SHOWING ONLY FIRST 2 COMMENTS SAYING THAT ALL COMMENTS MADE AFTER CERTAIN TIME ON 11 MAY 2011 HAVE BEEN REMOVED AND STATED THAT EFFORTS ARE ON TO MAKE IT OK. NOW I FIND THOSE 7 INCLUDING SECOND ONE BY MANNU REMOVED VIEWS NOT THERE AT ALL. MAY I REQUEST THOSE WHO'S VIEWS HAVE VANISHED TO PLEASE GIVE THE SAME AGAIN AS I WOULD LIKE TO REPLY EACH ONE.

ALKA :

Parents as well as elders and our education system should instill sense of responsibility in youngsters. Take care

MANNU :

Unfortunately our lifts do not have that safety system as it is of some local make. Take care

GAYU :

Sense of responsibility has to be instilled from young age itself. I know children will be naughty but they must also know not to do something which causes inconvenience to others. Take care

kids are always kids..full on energy... so restless..and vibrant too..But there are some brats who are seriously hard to tame..like one of the cousins I have...He does the same..I guess his parents are sick n tired of his craziness...so cant really blame the parents always...I guess it all depends on your luck..!!

Welcome to my space. Hope to see you often. I agree children will be children and I too am culprit of encouraging them to be mischievous but some limit is also needed to be told to them. Your valuable views on my older post are welcome, if you find time to read those. I will visit you soon.

Take care

I have personally never experienced such discomfort, but I'm sure, if this happened with me, I would make it a point to give some words to the parents to ponder upon... even if they think I'm over reacting.

You know,we are expected to have such fake behaviour. howsoever, bad u r feeling ,just smile and ignore.

Ur anger is understandable uncleji.

RESTLESS :

I always say that let a child enjoy this stage as this is the time to be carefree. I do like mischievous children but they also have to understand that their pranks do not cause inconvenience.

Take care

AHOY. VANISHED COMMENTS ARE BACK. SO HERE I AM REPLYING TO THOSE WHOM I COULD NOT EARLIER.

T-fL :

I love mischievous children but to put someone at discomfort is something else, isn't it? Take care

HARMAN :

Not only parents but we as elders also should try to inculcate good habits. It is fine if they are naughty but not at the cost of someone's comfort. Take care

NAVI :

Thanks for giving comment again after I complained of Houdini trick by earlier ones. I had replied. Take care

MANNU :

We do not have such facility. I had replied to your earlier comment too. Take care

NEEHA :

Yes, kids will be kids and who else will behave that way. But as you said few times is fine but whole day along is something beyond. Take care

SULAGNA :

Well, so you know how annoying it can get. I do not mind children having good time but at times they go little beyond and then it is time to correct them. Take care

SAKSHI :

Thanks for confirming what I knew all along that you are a mischievous girl. It is fine for kids to have fun but at times they too must understand when to stop. Take care

Live2cherish said...

Not that i am in favor of such mischief, but if that taken out of kids, they won't be kids na.
